The case for this stay
Soneva Jani is the only overwater villa I've stayed in where I actively wanted to be inside the room. The retractable roof above the bed is not a gimmick — falling asleep under the stars over the Indian Ocean is the trip.
The water slide from the upper deck into the lagoon sounds ridiculous and ends up being the highlight of the week. Our kids used it more than the pool. Bring goggles.
